Equities Trade Support Specialist

About the role

Liberty is seeking a Trade Support Specialist for its Equities team in Johannesburg, within the Global Markets division. The role covers the end-to-end lifecycle of trades across multiple asset classes, with a strong focus on verifying trade accuracy, managing client data and overseeing booking, matching and settlement. It also involves operational risk mitigation, resolving trade exceptions and improving workflow efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Execute standard and non-standard procedures so trades are booked and allocated correctly.
• Monitor the trade lifecycle so all events are processed accurately and on time.
• Investigate and resolve trade exceptions to protect the business and clients.
• Work with technology, finance and front-office trading teams to coordinate smoothly.
• Analyse internal processes and recommend improvements to streamline the trade value chain.
• Assess how trades affect the P&L and operational risk profile using pricing and risk management knowledge.

Required profile

• Completed first degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or Mathematical Sciences.
• 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in Global Markets trade support, with exposure to complex financial products and instruments.
• Ability to self-manage, work across cross-functional teams and communicate complex financial information clearly.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of trade lifecycles, derivatives markets and risk management principles.
• Comfort with banking industry software and advanced Microsoft Office tools.
