Enrolled Nurse – Theatre

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse – Theatre provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients in the operating theatre at Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the role involves assessment, implementation and evaluation of patient care programmes to ensure high‑quality, safe outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation and manage stock and equipment usage.
• Ensure a clean, therapeutic environment and adhere to waste‑management and occupational safety regulations.
• Report risks, equipment issues and maintain proper cleaning, storage and repair of medical devices.
• Deliver patient care within the Enrolled Nurse scope, promote health and wellbeing, and follow infection‑prevention protocols.
• Participate in handovers, quality‑improvement programmes and communicate effectively with patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team.
• Support the education and training of Enrolled Nursing Assistants and act in a supervisory capacity when required.
• Maintain professional conduct, confidentiality and compliance with hospital policies and the SANC code.
• Engage in continuous professional development, including CPR competency and staying updated with Netcare policies.

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse (or equivalent NQF Level 3 qualification).
• Compliance with the SANC code of conduct and relevant health‑care legislation.
• Relevant nursing experience, preferably in an operating theatre setting, is an advantage.
