Enrolled Nurse (e/n) – MICU

About the role

The Enrolled Nurse (e/n) will provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Netcare Alberton Hospital. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will contribute to high‑quality patient care and support the clinical team in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care according to the scope of practice and the care plan established by the Registered Nurse.
• Document patient observations, interventions and outcomes accurately and promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe and therapeutic environment, adhering to waste‑management and occupational safety policies.
• Monitor and manage clinical equipment, reporting any faults or required maintenance.
• Assist with medication administration, wound care, and basic procedures as directed.
• Supervise and support Enrolled Nursing Assistants (ENAs) in daily tasks.
• Participate in quality, risk and governance activities to ensure compliance with hospital standards.

Required profile

• Registered Enrolled Nurse qualification (e/n) recognized in South Africa.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council.
• Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Strong commitment to patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Willingness to work on‑site in a hospital setting, including shift work as required.

Required skills

• Basic clinical assessment and patient monitoring.
• Knowledge of infection control and medical waste management procedures.
• Proficiency in using hospital information systems for documentation.
