Engineering Technician – Public Works & Basic Services

About the role

The Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality is recruiting two Engineering Technicians on a three‑year fixed‑term contract within its Public Works & Basic Services – Civil department. The role focuses on designing, estimating and supervising municipal road and storm‑water projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare design plans and cost estimates for roads, storm‑water drainage schemes and related engineering projects.
• Control all aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with standards and specifications.
• Compile and submit project reports, monitoring progress and cost effectiveness.
• Recommend, prepare and update road standards, policies and procedures for construction and maintenance.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum three years of relevant work experience.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Computer literacy.

Required skills

• Civil engineering design.
• Road and storm‑water drainage design.
• Cost estimation.
• Contract administration and supervision of consultants/contractors.

What we offer

• Monthly salary of R22 176.87 (approximately R266 122.44 per annum).
