Engineering Safety Officer

About the role

The Engineering Safety Officer will support a mining operation by ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with relevant legislation. This full‑time position is based on site in Cape Town and requires a strong background in safety management within engineering contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular health and safety inspections across engineering sites.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and other applicable regulations.
• Maintain safety documentation and records in line with company policies.
• Provide guidance and training to artisans and other personnel on safety best practices.

Required profile

• Grade 12 National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent.
• Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification.
• Minimum 3‑5 years experience as an artisan.
• At least 3 years experience specifically as an Engineering Safety Officer.
• Valid certificate of physical fitness.
• Computer literacy and ability to use standard office software.
