Energy and Sustainability Engineer

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking an Energy and Sustainability Engineer to drive energy efficiency and sustainability across its healthcare facilities. The role involves conducting audits, developing improvement plans, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leveraging innovative technologies to reduce environmental impact and achieve operational savings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering support to operators on plant, equipment, and systems to enhance sustainability.
• Conduct and evaluate engineering design of plant, equipment, and systems to ensure sustainability.
• Support sustainability initiatives, including investigation, budgeting, execution and re‑evaluation.
• Identify, assess and mitigate risk factors related to energy and sustainability projects.
• Implement continuous improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
• Manage internal and external stakeholder relations and service delivery.
• Allocate and utilise resources effectively.
• Support the Industrial Control Manager with SCADA‑related requirements.

Required profile

• Essential: NQF 6 National Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
• Desired: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
• Essential experience: Engineering experience in a hospital environment (maintenance and projects) and experience as an Energy Auditor or equivalent.
• Desired experience: Engineering design and project management experience; Certified Energy Manager.
