Electrician - Steelworks

About the role

SA Steelworks is looking for an Electrician to join its Electrical Department at the Airport Industria branch in Cape Town. The successful candidate reports to the Electrical Manager and provides support to the department.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain induction furnaces
• Build and install new electrical systems, and maintain and repair installed ones
• Connect motors and control switchgear
• Maintain service records of electrical equipment
• Carry out point-to-point IO checks on PLCs, control and power systems
• Use C-Works to plan, track and record tasks
• Ensure all work complies with OHSA regulations and company policies, and meets work standards
• Take part in the RCM and RCA programs
• Read and use electrical diagrams, liaise with other departments and request materials from the Electrical Manager
• Support 24/7 operations and production goals, and work overtime and standby as required

Required profile

• Red Seal Trade Tested Electrician qualification
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Able to work in a pressurised, demanding environment
• Own reliable transport and a valid driver's licence
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
