Electrical Designer (Drafter)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Designer (Electrical Draftsman) to join NOV South Africa. In this position you will translate engineering concepts into precise electrical drawings for rig equipment, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and update electrical schematics, single‑line diagrams, panel layouts, wiring diagrams and cable schedules using CAD tools.
• Support engineers during design, manufacturing, FAT, commissioning and project execution.
• Prepare technical documentation such as load lists, circuit indexes, installation and commissioning procedures, and as‑built records.
• Assist with Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation and incorporate engineering revisions, FAT redlines and site changes.
• Maintain document control, drawing registers and revision management throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of drawing packages.

Required profile

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Drafting or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of electrical or instrumentation drafting experience, preferably in mining, automotive, industrial, manufacturing or oil & gas environments.
• Strong understanding of document control, revision management and engineering change processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN.
• Ability to create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and cable schedules.
• Experience preparing BOMs and technical documentation.
• Solid electrical and instrumentation drafting competencies.
