Electrical Artisan – Shipboard Systems

About the role

Greenro Solutions is looking for an artisan to repair, maintain and service all electrical equipment, machinery and electrical installations. The role requires strict adherence to safety precautions and hands-on experience with a wide range of electrical devices and systems.

Required profile

• Grade 12
• N3 Electrical Engineering certificate
• National Trade Test certificate or military artisan certificate issued by an OEM or its accredited agent
• 3-phase wireman's licence
• 2-3 years' experience in electrical areas on maritime ships
• 2-3 years' experience in fault finding and repairs
• Proven ability to carry out equipment maintenance
• Maintenance and repair of ship systems: electrical, electronic and control systems
• Valid driver's licence

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of electrical systems and electrical hazards
• Use of circuit testers, continuity testers, loop testers, clamp meters and insulation testers
• Knowledge of medium voltage switching
• Lockout/tag-out procedures on live systems
• Compliance with SANS electrical regulations or equivalent standards
• Participation in safety audits, risk assessments and toolbox talks
• Microsoft Office Suite (advantage)
