EC&I Engineer – Industrial Automation

About the role

We are looking for a skilled EC&I Engineer to join our engineering team in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. The role involves designing, implementing and maintaining electrical, control and instrumentation systems for industrial and process plant environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement EC&I systems for industrial and process plant applications.
• Produce and review electrical schematics, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, control philosophies and technical documentation.
• Develop and configure PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.
• Specify and integrate instrumentation, field devices, control panels, MCCs, VSDs and electrical distribution equipment.
• Commission new plant installations and support upgrades, expansions and shutdowns.
• Perform fault finding, root‑cause analysis and develop preventive maintenance strategies.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations and company procedures.
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders and provide technical support to maintenance and operations teams.

Required profile

• BEng, BSc, BTech or National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Instrumentation or related discipline.
• Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Technologist (or eligibility) is advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years experience in an EC&I engineering role within mining, manufacturing, power generation, chemical, water treatment or heavy‑industrial environments.
