E&CI Engineer – Electrical, Control & Instrumentation

About the role

Our client, a specialised South African OEM in the mineral processing and mining equipment sector, designs, manufactures and commissions equipment for local and international clients. They are seeking an experienced E&CI Engineer to own electrical, control and instrumentation design from concept through commissioning, working both in the office and on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Design electrical control systems, MCCs and distribution panels for mineral processing plants.
• Develop PLC programs and HMI/SCADA applications (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, WinCC, Ignition).
• Prepare electrical drawings, cable schedules, I/O lists and full engineering documentation.
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and performance testing.
• Commission, troubleshoot and start‑up equipment on‑site, diagnosing PLC, instrumentation and networking faults.
• Liaise with mechanical engineers, project managers, workshop staff, suppliers and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist in developing engineering standards and best practices.

Required profile

• BEng in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• 3–8 years of experience in industrial automation or electrical engineering, preferably in mining or mineral processing.
• Proven experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley) and designing MCCs/control panels.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally and internationally.
