Are you a passionate pharmacist who enjoys applying your clinical knowledge to complex medicine-related decisions? Join our team as a Drug Utilisation Review Pharmacist and play a vital role in ensuring that members receive safe, appropriate and cost-effective access to medicines.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assess chronic medicine applications and related medicine requests.
• Conduct Drug Utilisation Reviews to ensure appropriate and clinically sound medicine use.
• Authorise medicines in accordance with Scheme rules, formularies, clinical protocols and benefit structures.
• Apply evidence‑based clinical principles when making medicine authorisation decisions.
• Ensure medicine benefit allocations are correctly applied and administered.
• Assess requests for clinical appropriateness, safety and cost‑effectiveness.
• Process applications and medicine requests within required SLA and turnaround times.
• Provide professional assistance to members and healthcare providers regarding medicine‑related queries and authorisations.
• Review and resolve complex or high‑risk medicine requests, escalating where necessary.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy and keep processing errors within quality standards.

Required profile

• Grade 12.
• B.Pharm degree.
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council.
• Minimum 2 years experience in Drug Utilisation Review (DUR) and related administrative processes.
