Donor Care Officer

About the role

The Donor Care Officer ensures safe and efficient blood collection at drives and donor centres while providing excellent service to donors. This role combines operational management, stakeholder engagement, and direct donor care to meet collection targets and uphold quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage cost per unit for whole blood and specialised collections, including consumable packing and loading.
• Maintain and validate equipment, reporting repairs promptly.
• Build and maintain stakeholder relationships at blood drives and donor centres.
• Welcome donors, guide them through registration, and assist with form completion.
• Collect whole blood and apheresis units to meet assigned targets.
• Set up blood drives, pack and off‑load vehicles, and ensure timely preparation.
• Conduct donor assessments, basic physical checks, and risk‑behaviour interviews following SOPs.
• Perform phlebotomy, provide donor education, refreshments, and post‑donation care.
• Initiate emergency treatment (First Aid/CPR) when required and document all procedures.

Required profile

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage consumables and equipment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with donors and stakeholders.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
• Capability to respond to emergencies and provide first‑aid care.
