Distribution Center Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Distribution Center Assistant to join our Cape Town warehouse team. The role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient handling of goods and supporting best‑in‑class customer service while adhering to company procedures and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Off‑load vehicles and verify physical receipts against delivery manifests to ensure accuracy.
• Visually inspect outer packaging for damage and report any discrepancies.
• Move materials handling equipment and large goods using equipment or by hand to designated areas.
• Sort parcels into specified delivery zones and consolidate orders for routing.
• Load vehicles according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain proper documentation.
• Maintain 5S workplace organization, support continuous improvement of the Quality Management System, and suggest improvement opportunities.
• Participate in Kaizen activities, identify wasteful practices, and help improve daily customer service delivery.
• Follow Safe Work Instructions (SWIs), report unsafe acts and health‑safety incidents immediately, and actively engage in the health‑safety program.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety and quality standards.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution centre is advantageous.
• Ability to work safely, follow SOPs and SWIs, and maintain attention to detail.
• Commitment to quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Operating basic materials handling equipment.
• Understanding and applying 5S, SOP and SWI compliance.
