Dispute Resolution Paralegal (Belfast)

About the role

Burges Salmon is seeking a dedicated Paralegal to join its Dispute Resolution team in Belfast on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will work closely with fee earners on large‑scale document review projects, gaining exposure to complex litigation and investigation matters while developing expertise in legal technology.

Key responsibilities

• Review large volumes of electronic documents using Relativity in line with client instructions and matter‑specific protocols.
• Identify, code and tag documents for relevance, privilege, confidentiality, personal data and key issues.
• Perform quality‑control checks to ensure consistency and flag uncertain or significant documents to supervising lawyers.
• Utilise Relativity search tools, filters and batching features to enhance review efficiency.
• Assist with handling personally identifiable information and other sensitive material in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Support the organisation, tracking and management of document populations throughout the review process.
• Prepare review notes, summaries and escalation reports to inform case strategy.
• Maintain accurate review records and follow agreed processes to ensure defensible outcomes.
• Provide general assistance on document‑heavy dispute resolution matters and related administrative tasks.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented and proactive with strong organisational skills.
• Comfortable working with technology and eager to learn new legal software.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
• Good judgement and confidence to raise issues or uncertainties to senior lawyers.
