Disposal Manager

About the role

The Disposal Manager will oversee safe, compliant, and efficient operations of a disposal facility, covering waste acceptance, treatment, and final disposal. The role ensures effective management of staff, plant, materials, and equipment across the landfill, shunt yard, and weighbridge while adhering to permit conditions and legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all operations comply with company procedures, legislation, and permit conditions, and develop SOPs where needed.
• Implement and monitor key performance indicators and drive cost‑improvement initiatives.
• Manage the weighbridge process, including waste acceptance, accurate weighing, and sampling.
• Oversee landfill cells, controlling resources, applying correct disposal methods, and optimizing plant usage.
• Maintain site infrastructure and ensure full health and safety compliance.
• Facilitate effective communication between logistics, commercial, operations support, weighbridge, and site teams.

Required profile

• National Diploma or B Degree in Civil/Industrial Engineering or a related environmental field.
• Minimum five years of supervisory experience in construction, heavy plant machinery, hazardous waste disposal, or production plant environments.
• Experience with budgeting, cost control, and performance analysis.
• Knowledge of landfill requirements and hazardous waste handling regulations.
• Strong ability to lead, motivate staff, make independent decisions, and manage pressure.
