Dispatch Assistant - Rolled Steel Bar Products

About the role

SA Steelworks, part of SA Metal Group, is looking for a committed, hardworking and motivated person to join its Dispatch Department. The successful applicant will assist the Senior Dispatch Controller and handle the daily dispatch of rolled steel bar products.

Key responsibilities

• Daily dispatching of rolled steel bar products
• Daily verification of product tag data and printing of barcode labels
• Generate the dispatch documentation needed to accompany loads
• Coordinate the efficient entry and exit of trucks, including weighbridge operations
• Coordinate efficient truck loading while minimising delays
• Perform daily dispatch administration, such as updating records
• Ensure correct identification, labelling and placement of stock in the storage bays each day
• Follow the safety regulations set out in the OHS Act

Required profile

• 2 to 3 years of experience in a steel manufacturing or similar environment
• Experience in the logistics and dispatch of finished products
• Matric or equivalent with relevant experience
• High attention to detail and good communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment
• Availability to work extended hours during the week and some Saturdays, and to work overtime on short notice
• Valid driver's licence with own reliable transport is essential
