Director of Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL)

About the role

This fully remote senior position leads the development and strengthening of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) capabilities across a global network of mission‑driven organisations. You will provide technical guidance, design impact measurement frameworks, and enable data‑driven decision‑making to improve educational outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead consulting engagements with partner organisations to build sustainable MEL systems and measurable impact.
• Support implementation and adaptation of impact measurement frameworks, tools, and data systems covering participant, alumni, student, and program outcomes.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional experts to enhance program design, measurement approaches, and organisational learning.
• Design and facilitate workshops, learning experiences, and communities of practice that promote strong MEL capabilities.
• Develop guidance, resources, and knowledge products to improve evaluation practices and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Contribute to strategic planning, diagnostic exercises, and continuous improvement within the global MEL function.
• Analyze complex data, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Travel internationally to provide hands‑on technical support, assess capacity, and create tailored action plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with 5‑10 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 3‑6 years of experience in public policy, international development, data science, or related fields.
• Proven experience designing, implementing, or adapting MEL systems, preferably in education, international development, or nonprofit sectors.
• Consulting experience supporting nonprofit or mission‑driven institutions on organisational improvement and impact measurement.
• Strong analytical abilities with experience interpreting complex datasets and developing diagnostic frameworks.
