Director of Finance – Business Unit Lead (Remote, SA)

About the role

The Director of Finance BU will lead all financial functions for a business unit of a UK‑based communications and media software group, working remotely from South Africa. Reporting to the CEO/Business Unit Leader, you will shape financial strategy, ensure accurate forecasting and drive compliance with statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Own the Quarterly Strategic Review (QSR) forecasting process and maintain forecast accuracy within +/-5%.
• Provide financial and management reporting, analyse key operating ratios and deliver concise commentaries.
• Identify operational issues, propose improvements and monitor execution of improvement plans.
• Collaborate with functional leads to ensure project bids and contracts comply with corporate policies.
• Oversee finance operations: order‑to‑cash, procure‑to‑pay, treasury, month‑end close and related controls.
• Ensure timely submission of monthly, quarterly and ad‑hoc financial statements and compliance with tax, statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Address internal and external audit queries.
• Lead, develop and succession‑plan the Finance team, fostering a culture of learning and trust.

Required profile

• Accounting qualification (CPA, CA or equivalent).
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience in a senior finance leadership role.
• Proven ability to partner with CEOs and senior leadership teams.
• Experience managing finance functions in a multi‑currency environment.

Required skills

• Solid technical knowledge of IFRS, especially IFRS 15.
• Understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
• Foreign currency accounting experience.
