Diesel Mechanic – Truck Maintenance

About the role

Our client, a leading transport and logistics provider, is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to service and repair large trucks and related equipment. The role involves travelling to client sites across South Africa, performing both scheduled and emergency maintenance on diesel‑powered vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to various client locations to carry out repairs and routine maintenance on trucks and equipment.
• Diagnose faults, troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems, and perform corrective actions.
• Respond to breakdowns after hours and on weekends, providing on‑call support.
• Plan and coordinate service schedules, ensuring timely completion of work.
• Manage inventory, conduct stock takes and order parts as needed.
• Maintain accurate service records and follow detailed work instructions.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of hands‑on experience maintaining diesel trucks, including refrigerated and non‑refrigerated units.
• Strong background in electrical/electronic systems of vehicles.
• Willingness to work shift patterns, weekends and occasional after‑hours call‑outs.
• Ability to travel within South Africa as required.
