DevOps Engineer – Cloud Automation & CI/CD

About the role

PBT Group is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join its technology team in Cape Town. The role focuses on building and maintaining secure, scalable cloud environments while driving automation and continuous delivery practices. You will collaborate closely with software developers, architects and infrastructure engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.
• Automate software build, testing and deployment processes to improve release quality.
• Develop and manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform modules and Infrastructure as Code.
• Deploy and support containerised applications with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Implement monitoring, logging and alerting solutions using AWS CloudWatch.
• Perform root‑cause analysis on production incidents and support operational improvements.
• Embed security best practices throughout the delivery lifecycle and support vulnerability remediation.
• Collaborate on cloud architecture decisions and share knowledge across teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
• 4–7 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud or Platform Engineering.
• Strong understanding of modern DevOps practices and automation.
• Experience working in Agile software delivery environments.
• AWS DevOps Engineer certification or equivalent.
