Developer II – Institutional IT (Middle Office)

About the role

Allan Gray’s Institutional IT team is looking for a Developer II to join a dynamic group of around 80 professionals supporting the asset‑management function. You will work on both new solutions and the maintenance of existing systems in a fast‑moving, business‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with business users, analysts and fellow developers to gather and clarify requirements.
• Write technical specifications and deliver new functionality following Allan Gray standards and timelines.
• Participate in design, planning and code‑review sessions.
• Understand existing systems, their architecture and business value.
• Debug, analyse and resolve user‑reported issues.
• Test, deploy and monitor code changes in production.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience designing and coding software solutions.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Detail‑oriented, autonomous and able to work under pressure.
• Positive attitude, curiosity and willingness to learn.

Required skills

• .NET Core, C# (and optionally C++ or Java)
• JavaScript, ReactJS for front‑end development
• RESTful API design and implementation
• SQL Server or PostgreSQL database experience
• Understanding of software development life‑cycle practices (coding standards, source control, CI/CD, testing)
• Exposure to microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ) and cloud platforms (preferably AWS) is advantageous
