Despatch Supervisor – Warehouse Management

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Despatch Supervisor to lead our warehouse dispatch team at our Elsies River Industrial site in Cape Town. The role involves overseeing coordinators, schedulers and despatchers, ensuring compliance with transit policies and Department of Transportation regulations while maintaining efficient dispatch operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and direct dispatch staff, assigning projects and maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
• Plan, schedule and monitor route‑scheduling systems and vehicle dispatch.
• Ensure all dispatch equipment is operational and maintained.
• Conduct employee evaluations, approve timesheets and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Provide technical assistance to staff and the Warehouse Manager.
• Maintain accurate records, reports and documentation related to dispatch activities.
• Handle employee complaints, resolve operational problems and enforce safety and traffic regulations.

Required profile

• Matric qualification with at least 5 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
• Strong knowledge of transit system operations, local traffic regulations and safe driving techniques.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and mentor staff, and to make sound judgments under pressure.
• Excellent oral and written communication, time‑management and problem‑solving skills.
• Personal attributes: confident, efficient, organized, team‑builder and adaptable to change.
