Deputy General Manager – Hotel Leadership

About the role

The client, a prestigious hotel in Johannesburg, is seeking a Deputy General Manager to join the Hotel Leadership Team. Reporting to the General Manager, you will help drive operational excellence, financial performance and guest satisfaction across all departments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage hotel finance and administration, including budgeting, financial analysis, reporting and management systems.
• Interpret and implement human‑resource policies and legislative requirements.
• Oversee sourcing, purchasing and stock control in line with technology and regulatory standards.
• Develop and enforce policies, procedures, strategies and controls for all hotel operations.
• Handle contractual arrangements and ensure compliance.
• Facilitate inter‑departmental cooperation to anticipate and exceed guest expectations.
• Lead and support department heads and staff to maintain high‑quality standards.

Required profile

• Matric (NQF 4) and a Diploma in Hospitality, Management or Business.
• 5–10 years of experience, primarily in managerial roles within a premium hotel environment.
• Strong background in financial and operational management.
• Solid understanding of hospitality industry standards and guest service expectations.
• Proven leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
