Deputy Factory Manager – Production & Maintenance Lead

About the role

Ensure production processes deliver maximum quality in a cost‑effective, safe and reliable manner while maintaining factory assets efficiently. Lead and manage the process and maintenance functions, executing strategic direction, allocating resources and driving process excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an asset preservation strategy.
• Manage maintenance effectiveness and drive continuous improvement to eliminate defects.
• Recruit, train, develop and lead the plant workforce.
• Oversee safety, health and environment management for all processes.
• Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
• Ensure compliance with SHE risk management requirements.

Required profile

• NQF Level 6/7 degree in Mechanical, Electrical engineering or equivalent (Millwright acceptable).
• Financial management qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification engineering or process experience in FMCG or processing industry.
• Strong hands‑on maintenance background in FMCG manufacturing.
• Artisan/technician background highly valued.
• Excludes candidates from mining, steel, industrial or chemical engineering sectors.
