Department Manager – Menswear

About the role

Zara is looking for an experienced, commercially‑driven Department Manager to lead the Menswear department at its Canal Walk store in Johannesburg. You will be responsible for shaping the department’s commercial identity, analysing sales performance, and ensuring the product offering aligns with customer needs and current fashion trends.

Key responsibilities

• Own the commercial performance of the Menswear department and implement corporate product guidelines.
• Analyse sales data and product potential to create action plans that meet commercial targets.
• Optimize product assortment by leveraging fashion trends, customer insights and market opportunities.
• Manage special collection projects and oversee visual and commercial aspects of the sales floor.
• Forecast sales, contribute to the annual sales calendar and develop weekly commercial strategies.
• Lead, coach and develop visual and commercial teams, coordinating schedules and fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Coordinate deliveries, product updates and store layouts to reflect key launches and trends.

Required profile

• Proven retail leadership experience, preferably in fashion or apparel.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse data and drive results.
• Passion for fashion, customer experience and product performance.
• Excellent communication and team‑development skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Visual, Operations, Sales and Customer Experience teams.
