About the role
The Decision Maker (EO2) will join the Corporate Information Branch of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI). You will ensure the organisation complies with its statutory duties under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations 2004, Data Protection Act 2018, Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 and UK GDPR, delivering accurate and timely responses to information requests.
Key responsibilities
- Process FOI, EIR and data‑protection requests from receipt through research, stakeholder engagement and final publication.
- Apply legal exemptions and make release or withholding decisions in line with legislation.
- Maintain casework records, meet statutory deadlines and ensure quality assurance of all responses.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, contribute to peer‑review and training activities.
- Provide advice to colleagues and the public on information‑access matters.
Required profile
- Strong understanding of FOI, EIR and data‑protection legislation.
- Excellent analytical and decision‑making abilities.
- Ability to manage a caseload independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Clear written communication skills and attention to detail.
Required skills
- Knowledge of Freedom of Information Act 2000.
- Knowledge of Data Protection Act 2018, Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 and UK GDPR.
- Familiarity with Environmental Information Regulations 2004.
What we offer
- Competitive salary range £30,458 – £31,097 per annum.
- £1,422 environmental allowance.
- 37‑hour, Monday‑Friday work week.
