Debtors Controller – Accounts Receivable (Cape Town)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Debtors Controller to join a well‑established national organisation in Cape Town. You will manage a portfolio of client accounts, ensuring timely collections, accurate reconciliations and strong client relationships while supporting the finance team’s cash‑flow objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage debtor accounts and achieve collections within agreed payment terms.
• Monitor and maintain debtor age analysis and allocate payments.
• Reconcile customer accounts and investigate queries promptly.
• Prepare reconciliations, supporting documentation and deliver invoices.
• Follow up on outstanding balances, unallocated receipts and identify payment risks.
• Produce collection and debtor reports for management.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve queries and ensure compliance with financial controls.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Debtors Control, Accounts Receivable or Credit Control.
• Proven track record of managing collections and debtor reconciliations.
• Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy and ability to meet deadlines.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• Finance qualification or studying towards one is an advantage.
• Experience in a high‑volume finance environment.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables and reconciliations).
