Debt Collector

About the role

O'Brien Recruitment is advertising a full-time Debt Collector position based in Bellville, Western Cape. The role involves contacting customers about outstanding accounts, negotiating payment arrangements and keeping accurate records of collection activity.

Key responsibilities

• Contact customers regarding outstanding and overdue accounts
• Follow up on unpaid invoices and outstanding balances
• Negotiate payment arrangements and monitor agreed payment dates
• Respond to account queries and help resolve payment discrepancies
• Maintain accurate records of collection activities and customer interactions
• Monitor outstanding accounts and escalate unresolved matters when necessary
• Provide professional and courteous customer service throughout the collection process

Required profile

• 2-3 years of relevant experience in debt collection, credit control or accounts receivable preferred
• Experience following up on outstanding accounts and overdue payments
• Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and achieve collection targets

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant debt collection or accounting systems
• Good administrative and organisational skills
• Accurate record-keeping and attention to detail
