Data Engineer

About the role

The role is part of the Client Engagement Delivery team that builds and maintains the data foundation powering client engagement and campaign activity for a leading banking organisation. You will design data assets and pipelines that deliver trusted, accurate data to Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Data360, enabling targeted, data‑driven campaigns across multiple channels.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines and systems.
• Analyse business and system requirements to enhance data platforms.
• Provide input to the Data Architect during solution design for new and existing data flows.
• Support and maintain data infrastructure to ensure reliability and efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Engineering or a closely related field.
• Proven track record leading or significantly contributing to data engineering projects using SQL, Python, Java, Apache Spark, and Hadoop.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and big‑data technologies.
• Understanding of financial products and services and ability to engage stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL modelling and query optimisation.
• Programming in Python and Java.
• Experience with Apache Spark and Hadoop ecosystems.
• ETL pipeline design with error handling and recovery mechanisms.
• Proficiency with cloud data services (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Version control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
• Containerised data solutions and infrastructure‑as‑code orchestration.
