Data Analyst (SQL & dbt)

About the role

saas.group is looking for a Data Analyst to join its small Central Data & BI team. The team looks after the data warehouse, dbt models and analysis used by leadership, Finance, the acquisitions team and portfolio companies. Most work is done in SQL and dbt rather than reporting tools, and the role is an individual contributor without people management.

Key responsibilities

• Clarify business questions, assess source data, investigate existing logic, build or change models, validate results and explain their meaning and limits.
• Build and maintain production dbt models for billing, subscriptions, customers, recurring revenue, retention and related SaaS metrics.
• Build and maintain Metabase dashboards, reusable questions and recurring reports, plus ad hoc analysis.
• Monitor data quality and freshness, reconcile figures and trace discrepancies back to the source system.
• Maintain Airbyte source integrations, including custom connectors, and onboard data from new acquisitions.
• Process unfamiliar billing, customer and revenue datasets for due diligence on potential acquisitions, often under time pressure.
• Use AI tools as part of development, investigation and documentation, keeping sensitive data protected.
• Document definitions, source behaviour, limitations and repeatable workflows.

Required profile

• 3+ years in hands-on data roles where SQL was the main tool.
• Production experience building and maintaining data models with dbt or a similar code-based workflow, with version control and review.
• Ability to review code, including in languages you do not write every day such as Python.
• Experience tracing data from source through ingestion and transformation to a business answer.
• Fluent written and spoken English and ability to work Central European hours.
