Data Analyst – Programme Impact & MEL

About the role

The Data Analyst will lead technical analysis for ACHIEVE South Africa, turning routine monitoring data into credible evidence of reach, quality, outcomes and performance. Working closely with the MEL and programme teams, you will support evidence‑based decision‑making and donor reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a programme analysis plan aligned with the results framework and reporting commitments.
• Analyse reach, service quality, outcomes and performance, disaggregating results by geography, age, sex and population group.
• Apply statistical methods – descriptive, trend, cohort analysis – and use advanced techniques where appropriate, clearly stating assumptions.
• Create documented, repeatable analytical workflows using Excel and suitable query or statistical tools.
• Extract, combine, clean and validate data from CBIMS, DATIM and other sources, collaborating with the database administrator.
• Conduct routine data quality assessments, reconcile figures with source records and track issues to resolution.
• Design and maintain dashboards and visualisations in Power BI, Tableau or Excel, focusing on decision‑making needs.
• Lead analytical content for performance reviews, donor reports and proposals, providing concise interpretation and recommendations.

• Strong analytical mindset with experience in programme monitoring, evaluation and impact measurement.
• Ability to communicate statistical findings in plain language for non‑technical audiences.
• Detail‑oriented, capable of ensuring data quality and reproducibility.
