Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

The Cyber Security Engineer will design, build, implement and maintain secure, complex systems and architectures that protect the data environment of the Financial Intelligence Centre. This role underpins the ICT division’s strategic direction and enables data‑driven intelligence across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with business units to capture security requirements and translate them into architectural designs.
• Define and design cyber security solutions and blueprints, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, encryption and access‑control systems, ensuring alignment with ICT security standards.
• Configure and harden operating systems, networks and applications to minimise vulnerabilities.
• Perform feasibility studies and develop conceptual, logical and physical security models.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive cyber security roadmap supporting big‑data, analytics, automation and AI/ML initiatives.
• Collaborate with development teams to embed security into the software development lifecycle.
• Research, evaluate and recommend security technologies, tools and platforms.
• Monitor SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls and other security tools, analyse alerts, and coordinate response actions.
• Produce security architecture templates, position papers and documentation for consistency across domains.

Required profile

• Proven ability to work with cross‑functional teams and translate complex technical concepts into clear language.
• Strong analytical mindset for feasibility studies, risk assessments and security monitoring.
• Experience drafting security architecture documentation, roadmaps and position papers.
• Capability to stay current with emerging cyber threats and evolving security standards.
