Cyber Security Engineer – Incident Response

About the role

Capitec is looking for a Cyber Security Engineer who specializes in Incident Response to protect its digital banking platform. You will work with a forward‑thinking security team, using threat intelligence and vulnerability research to keep the bank’s systems safe from evolving cyber threats.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct vulnerability research and analyse emerging security threats.
• Perform risk assessments and produce reports on the organisation’s security posture.
• Monitor systems and logs for suspicious activity and respond to security incidents.
• Identify, remediate and track vulnerabilities across Windows, Red Hat, Active Directory, SQL and SharePoint environments.
• Maintain detailed incident records and continuously improve response processes.
• Collaborate with IT and development teams to embed security controls into new and existing systems.
• Collect, share and act on threat intelligence, building dashboards for monitoring and reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in incident response and threat mitigation.
• Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
• Relevant IT or Computer Science qualification; Grade 12 with a tertiary IT degree is preferred.
• Preferably experience in banking or financial services.
