Customer Assistant – Tills & Foods

About the role

Join Woolworths as a Customer Assistant in the Foods department, working at our corporate stores in Kagiso and Krugersdorp. You will help create a welcoming shopping environment while ensuring food safety, hygiene and stock quality standards are met.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and provide assistance with product queries and promotions.
• Advise shoppers on product options, alternatives and ongoing offers.
• Maintain stock accuracy through rotation, replenishment and cold‑chain management.
• Identify and isolate damaged or non‑conforming goods, manage returns and report quality issues.
• Follow shop‑keeping disciplines, including planograms, gap policies and department cleanliness.
• Control shrinkage by reporting suspicious activities and adhering to security protocols.
• Demonstrate product knowledge to promote new lines and seasonal promotions.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification or equivalent (NQF level).
• Basic computer literacy for essential digital tasks.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including early mornings and weekends.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation.
• Basic numeracy and literacy for stock management and record‑keeping.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards and cold‑chain procedures.
• Attention to detail, punctuality and adherence to dress code.
