Customer Assistant – Till Operations (Food)

About the role

Join Woolworths as a Customer Assistant focused on till and food sections. You will be the first point of contact for shoppers, ensuring smooth, accurate transactions and a friendly shopping experience across several store locations in the Western Cape.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly at all till points.
• Process cash, card and alternative payments accurately following company policies.
• Promote Woolworths loyalty programmes, utility bill payments and airtime sales.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised till area.
• Check scanned items against shelf tickets to ensure pricing accuracy.
• Follow loss‑prevention procedures to minimise shrinkage and report irregularities.
• Provide basic product information to support promotional events.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF qualification.
• Strong customer‑service orientation with friendly communication.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage time effectively.
• Attention to detail and honesty in handling transactions.
• Willingness to work varied shifts and be a proactive team member.
