Customer Assistant – Foods & Tills

About the role

Join Woolworths as a Customer Assistant in the Foods & Tills area at our Cascades store in Pietermaritzburg. You will be the front‑line representative, ensuring customers receive friendly service while maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and store presentation.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers, providing product information and promoting promotions.
• Operate tills and handle transactions accurately.
• Rotate stock, replenish shelves and maintain cold‑chain integrity.
• Identify and isolate damaged or unsafe products, managing returns to vendors.
• Follow shop‑keeping disciplines, including planograms, gap policies and cleanliness standards.
• Report and help prevent shrinkage through security protocols and red‑flag processes.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification or equivalent (NQF level).
• Basic computer literacy for digital tasks.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including early mornings and weekends.
• Strong communication skills and punctuality.
• Basic numeracy and literacy for stock management.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards and cold‑chain management.
• Attention to detail and personal discipline.
