Crop Production & Operations Manager (Agriculture)

About the role

The farm is a 35‑hectare blueberry operation in the Western Cape that exports to European markets. As Production Manager you will be the operational heartbeat, overseeing planting, fertigation, chemical application, harvesting and workforce management throughout the season.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the farm’s strategic business plan and set section goals.
• Direct all planting, fertigation, chemical application and harvesting activities.
• Conduct soil and leaf analysis to guide fertigation and pest/disease management.
• Inspect production blocks to meet maturity targets and coordinate with engineering and equipment teams.
• Prepare and control the annual production budget, monitor variances and report to the estate manager.
• Induct, coach and supervise senior team leaders and the wider workforce.
• Ensure health & safety compliance, SIZA and Global G.A.P. standards.
• Manage equipment maintenance, supply requirements and asset inspections.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large‑scale agricultural production, preferably in fruit crops.
• Strong knowledge of fertigation, soil and leaf analysis, and chemical application protocols.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and enforce compliance with industry regulations.
• Experience with budgeting, performance monitoring and reporting.
