Credit Manager – Agriculture

About the role

Our client, a leading player in the agricultural sector, is seeking an experienced Credit Manager to oversee credit operations for farmers across the Southern and Eastern Cape. The role requires strong judgment, decision‑making abilities, and a commitment to supporting the agricultural community.

Key responsibilities

• Apply and maintain the company’s credit policy in line with the National Credit Act.
• Ensure good corporate governance and accurate financial reporting.
• Research and develop new credit opportunities and identify prospective customers.
• Market credit packages proactively and innovatively.
• Manage the credit book effectively, including evaluation and monitoring of new credit and hire‑purchase applications.
• Monitor credit arrangements, assess credit risk, and manage securities and reporting.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
• Follow up on and collect outstanding accounts.

Required profile

• Matric and a degree in Agricultural Economics or Accounting.
• Minimum 5 years of credit management experience, preferably in banking or agricultural businesses.
• In‑depth knowledge of the Credit Act and related statutory provisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure, both independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s licence, reliable transport, and willingness to travel frequently.
