Cost Controller – Pre‑opening Hotel

About the role

The Cost Controller will support the pre‑opening of The Cape Town EDITION Hotel by providing financial expertise that drives strategic decisions and ensures sound fiscal management. This full‑time position works closely with senior leadership to develop budgets, monitor performance and safeguard the hotel's financial health during its launch phase.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse financial data and market trends to support strategic planning and decision‑making.
• Prepare annual budget plans, forecast sales versus expenses, and track actual performance against projections.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability, including cost‑benefit analysis and new business initiatives.
• Lead and mentor accounting team members, communicating goals and ensuring accountability.
• Maintain accurate profit‑and‑loss reporting, audit documentation and compliance with internal controls.
• Monitor tax obligations, ensure timely collection/accrual, and oversee internal, external and regulatory audit processes.
• Generate timely financial reports and presentations for senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field (minimum 3‑year program).
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably within hospitality or a similar fast‑paced environment.
• Strong analytical abilities with a track record of supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and influence cross‑functional teams.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail and commitment to compliance.
