Cost Accountant

About the role

Macrotec is seeking a Cost Accountant to lead its finance function in Ballito, KZN. You will be responsible for building and maintaining product cost structures, analysing bills of materials and supporting project teams with cost insights. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will play a strategic role in driving profitability across the company’s high-temperature process equipment portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed costing models for all product lines and projects.
• Analyse bills of materials, track project expenditures against budgets and report margin performance.
• Execute month-end close, prepare management reports and perform account reconciliations.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and project teams to identify cost drivers and improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• BCom in Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting or a related qualification.
• Experience with product costing, BOM analysis or manufacturing cost analysis (preferred).
• Strong analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and communicate financial information clearly.

Required skills

• Familiarity with an ERP system, specifically Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
