Control Room Operator (Matric Required)

About the role

We are looking for reliable individuals to join our control room team in Durban. The role involves monitoring a fleet of vehicles, handling emergency alerts and ensuring smooth communication between drivers, clients and technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor all vehicles, enforce geo‑fenced zones and track driver performance.
• Respond to emergency alerts such as crashes, panic signals and battery disconnections.
• Maintain continuous communication with clients, drivers and technicians, providing updates and feedback.
• Configure and script tracking devices per client specifications and record telematics installations.
• Act as the first point of contact during emergencies and coordinate with relevant stakeholders.
• Handle incoming calls professionally, coordinate between control room, responders and supervisors.
• Conduct system checks, troubleshoot equipment, monitor CCTV feeds and report deviations.
• Prepare detailed shift reports, record incidents and ensure a tidy control‑room environment.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) with PSIRA Grade C.
• Own reliable transport.
• Strong organisational and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines and handle 12‑hour rotating shifts, including weekends.
• Logistics experience is an advantage.
• Excellent telephone etiquette and willingness to be on standby when required.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
