Control Room Operator

About the role
The Control Room Operator will be based in the Richards Bay Operations Department, monitoring and coordinating plant activities from the control room. The primary aim is to ensure safe, efficient operation of the BTT plant while maintaining high levels of performance and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
- Continuously monitor plant processes using SCADA and other control systems.
- Coordinate operational activities with field teams and external stakeholders.
- Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, and emergencies following BTT emergency procedures.
- Maintain accurate logs and reports of plant performance.
- Support shift handovers and ensure continuity of operations.
Required profile
- Ability to communicate effectively at all organisational levels and with external parties.
- Completed fire training programme.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Required skills
- Knowledge of SAP systems (advantageous).
- Experience with SCADA control platforms.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
