Contract Engineer – Civil Projects

About the role

We are looking for a Contract Engineer to lead the technical and contractual aspects of civil engineering projects. The role ensures engineering work meets specifications while managing contracts with clients, suppliers and subcontractors, and delivers projects on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with civil engineers, surveyors, architects and stakeholders to develop detailed project plans and designs.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts to align with project objectives and legal requirements.
• Identify and assess risks associated with contractual agreements, including financial, legal, operational and reputational risks.
• Monitor and analyse project costs against approved budgets.
• Prepare comprehensive project close‑out reports summarising outcomes, challenges and lessons learned.
• Implement quality control procedures and conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with quality assurance plans.
• Develop detailed project plans outlining tasks, timelines and resources required to achieve project objectives.
• Evaluate and refine contract management processes to improve efficiency and compliance.

Required profile

• BSc/BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA.
• 20+ years of relevant civil engineering experience.
• Experience on major road upgrade projects.
• Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and COTO specifications.
• Working hours: 07:45–16:35, Monday to Friday.
