Construction Manager – Mining Projects (12‑Month Contract)

About the role

Our client, a leading mining operation in North‑West South Africa, is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of mining infrastructure, earthworks, tailings storage facilities (TSF) and waste rock dumps (WRD) on a 12‑month contract basis. The role combines hands‑on site supervision with strategic contractor and resource management to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Construction Management Plan for all mining infrastructure and earthworks projects.
• Coordinate bulk earthworks, excavations, TSF construction, WRD development, roads, drainage and related facilities.
• Monitor progress against approved drawings, specifications and schedules, applying corrective actions as needed.
• Manage contractors, subcontractors, plant‑hire firms and service providers, ensuring productivity, quality and compliance.
• Oversee safety, quality assurance, risk management and contract administration throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mining Engineering or related field.
• 8‑10 years of construction management experience in mining, heavy industrial or civil construction.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale earthworks, TSF and WRD projects.
• Experience managing multiple work fronts and contractor teams in an operational mining environment.
