Communication/Public Relations Internship

About the role

Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) is offering a 12‑18 month Communication/Public Relations internship for unemployed South African graduates aged 18‑35. The programme provides institutional knowledge, on‑the‑job training, mentorship and exposure to industry‑specific tasks, helping participants apply academic learning in a real‑world environment.

Key responsibilities

• Gain work‑exposure across various depots and departments within TFR.
• Support communication and public‑relations activities, including stakeholder liaison and internal messaging.
• Assist with administrative and business‑understanding tasks related to the rail operation.
• Participate in research, analysis and conflict‑resolution activities as required.

Required profile

• South African citizen, aged 18‑35.
• Graduate from a registered TVET College or Higher Education Institution with no bursary obligation and completed all theoretical training.
• No prior work experience required.
• Must provide CV, identity document, proof of residence and certified copies of academic qualifications.
