About the role
We are seeking a Commercial Discovery Lead to join an early‑stage AI infrastructure startup focused on modern e‑commerce. Based in Cape Town on a hybrid schedule, you will work closely with the founding team to identify the company’s ideal customers, shape the go‑to‑market strategy, and secure the first paying clients.
Key responsibilities
- Manage inbound and warm leads and conduct discovery calls with potential customers.
- Analyse conversations to uncover patterns and define ideal customer segments.
- Refine product positioning, messaging, and early sales motions.
- Support the closure of early customers and help build the first go‑to‑market process.
- Eventually design and execute targeted outbound campaigns once key segments are identified.
Required profile
- 3–6 years of relevant experience, preferably in startups, consulting, e‑commerce or B2B environments.
- Curious, commercially minded generalist comfortable with ambiguity.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage customers directly.
- Structured thinker who can identify trends from qualitative data.
- Hands‑on attitude willing to take on varied tasks in an early‑stage setting.
