Commercial Broker – Short-Term Insurance (Brokerage Experience Required)

About the role

Our client, a well‑established insurance brokerage in Johannesburg North, is seeking an experienced Commercial Broker to manage and grow a portfolio of short‑term commercial insurance clients. The role involves delivering expert risk advice, structuring policies, and maintaining strong relationships with underwriters and corporate customers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and service an established portfolio of commercial insurance clients.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and recommend appropriate coverage.
• Structure and place short‑term commercial policies across multiple industries.
• Negotiate terms, premiums and policy structures with insurers.
• Maintain relationships with underwriters, insurers and other industry stakeholders.
• Review client portfolios regularly to identify coverage gaps or improvement opportunities.
• Prepare and present proposals, renewal reviews and policy documentation.
• Assist clients with claims management and related queries.
• Ensure compliance with FAIS and other regulatory requirements.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the commercial insurance market.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in short‑term commercial insurance within a brokerage environment.
• Relevant qualification in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance or Business (advantageous).
• RE5 certification and appropriate FAIS credits.
• Professional insurance qualification such as NQF Level 5 or higher in Short‑Term Insurance (advantageous).
