Collections Agent

About the role

BEST Training, an accredited training provider for the built environment industry, is hiring a Collections Clerk. The position is full-time and on-site in Maitland, Cape Town, and focuses on managing outstanding accounts and supporting cash flow.

Key responsibilities

• Manage outstanding accounts and contact clients to follow up on overdue payments
• Negotiate payment arrangements in a professional and respectful manner
• Update debtor records, reconcile accounts and prepare statements
• Escalate complex cases to the finance team when necessary
• Respond to client inquiries and give clear information on account status
• Maintain accurate documentation of all collection activities
• Work with finance and customer service colleagues to support timely collections

Required profile

• Strong debt collection skills, including managing overdue accounts and negotiating payment arrangements
• Analytical skills to review account information, reconcile balances and spot discrepancies
• Customer service and communication skills to engage clients professionally
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles relevant to receivables and collections
• Relevant experience in collections, credit control or finance administration is beneficial
• A certificate or diploma in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration is an advantage
• Attention to detail, reliability and accuracy under time pressure

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office is advantageous
• Accounting or ERP systems are advantageous
