Collections Agent

About the role

homechoice, a South African homeware retailer, is hiring a Collections Agent in the Western Cape. The agent works by telephone to obtain reasonable repayment outcomes from customers with outstanding debt, generating cash flow, minimising bad debts and helping distressed borrowers rehabilitate.

Key responsibilities

• Meet department objectives by achieving performance targets and collecting according to department standards.
• Rehabilitate and educate customers about their payment profile.
• Negotiate payments from customers following the call script, within dialler time.
• Provide an exceptional customer experience and act as an ambassador internally and externally.
• Meet operational and quality efficiency targets.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 is essential; relevant tertiary studies are advantageous.
• Previous experience in collections, call centre, customer service, credit control, retail or financial services is advantageous.
• Ability to work in a target-driven, performance-focused environment.

Required skills

• Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage difficult conversations professionally and constructively.
• Computer literacy and experience with customer management systems.
• Attention to detail, accurate record keeping, problem solving and conflict resolution.
